London Transport Museum
Poster Chandelier
Commissioned by the London Transport Museum to celebrate the opening of the Global Poster Gallery in October 2023, this custom-designed light installation draws inspiration from the concept of a zoetrope. The installation features 72 posters carefully selected from the museum’s extensive collection of over 30,000 posters, showcasing designs that span more than a century. Each poster is part of the museum’s rich history, representing over 7,000 unique designs, from early transport advertising to contemporary graphic art.
The installation was crafted in London, with every element designed to evoke the dynamic movement of a zoetrope, immersing visitors in a rotating display of iconic imagery. The neon lighting surrounding the posters highlights the vibrant history of London’s transport posters, paying homage to the role of design in shaping the visual identity of the city. Positioned as a central feature within the Global Poster Gallery, this installation serves as a striking introduction to the museum’s world-class collection, offering a unique and engaging experience for all who visit
