CTC Dance Company unpicked the timeless story of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale of Alice in Wonderland and revealed an eerie transcendent adaptation, displaying a constantly evolving world of 'No Rules. No Time. No Binary' – Wonderland in Alice.
Wonderland in Alice explored this internal struggle and challenged the audience to open their minds to a world free of binaries, preconceptions, and societal expectations.
Wonderland in Alice employed universal emotive language to convey empathy and empowerment toward gender awareness and self-authenticity. It delved into the complexities of expressive movement theatre, spoken word, transitioned costumes to depict transformative characters, and composed an all-encompassing original soundscape.

“The set by Damien Stanton, was the key to the exquisite setting in front of us tonight. The neon lights and the suits of cards illuminating the way as Alice (Kira Nichols) moved in and out of the set giving the performance a 3D effect – was a feast for the eyes.”
“The trippy visuals and dynamic stage design ensures that her story is re-told through a Queer lens, proposing that the body is the primary space where identity is formed.”
“Theatre Peckham has a great space to play with and this was captured by Damien Stanton’s stage design which was an integral part of the show as it highlighted Alice’s journey both physically and mentally. Which helped the theatre come to life and made you feel like you are escaping the outside world.”
